App Issues

Why is the app crashing or not opening?

If the app is crashing or won't open, try these steps:

  • Restart your device
  • Update to the latest version from the App Store/Google Play
  • Clear the app's cache (Android) or offload and reinstall (iOS)
  • Check if you have enough storage space (at least 100MB free)
  • Ensure your device meets the minimum requirements

The app is running slowly or freezing

Performance issues can usually be resolved by:

  • Closing other apps to free up memory
  • Restarting your device
  • Updating to the latest app version
  • Checking your internet connection

Route Navigation

How do I find walking routes in my city?

To find routes in your city:

  • Open the app and allow location access
  • Browse the "Discover" tab for nearby routes
  • Use the search function to find specific areas

GPS tracking isn't working properly

GPS issues can be resolved by:

  • Enabling location services for WalksWays
  • Setting location permission to "Always" (iOS) or "Allow all the time" (Android)
  • Ensuring you're outdoors with a clear view of the sky
  • Checking if other location-based apps work
  • Restarting location services in device settings

How do I follow other users?

To follow other users:

  • Visit their profile by tapping their username
  • Tap the "Follow" button on their profile
  • Manage who you follow in your profile settings

Account & Profile

How do I change my username or profile picture?

To update your profile:

  • Go to your profile by tapping your avatar
  • Tap "Edit Profile"
  • Change your username, bio, or profile picture
  • Tap "Save" to apply changes

Account Deletion

How do I request account deletion?

To request account deletion:

  • Fill out the account deletion request form below
  • Provide your email address associated with the account
  • Explain why you want to delete your account
  • We'll process your request within 7 business days
  • You'll receive a confirmation email once completed

What data will be deleted?

When you delete your account, we will remove:

  • Your profile information and personal data
  • All routes you've created and saved
  • Your walking history and statistics
  • Social connections and followers
  • Any uploaded photos or content
  • Account preferences and settings

Note: Some data may be retained for legal or security purposes as required by law.

Can I recover my account after deletion?

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once your account and data are deleted:

  • You cannot recover your account
  • All your data will be permanently removed
  • You would need to create a new account to use WalksWays again

If you're unsure about deletion, consider deactivating your account temporarily instead.
